Edward Hicks

Edward Hicks was a pioneer in the American folk art movement. Many of his paintings were based on Bible stories and his life as a Quaker preacher. 'The Peaceable Kingdom' is notably one of his most famous works in which he painted many versions.
The Peaceable Kingdom

The setting in the peaceable kingdom is based on a paradisiacal view taken from the book of Isaiah in the Bible in which the Lions live with lambs and little children play near a viper's nest.
